About Virgin Gorda and Places to Visit
Mercury Jets provides private jet charter flights to and from Virgin Gorda.
Virgin Gorda is a volcanic resort island in the Virgin Islands, the second most populous and one of the first among the other British islands. Just over 3,000 people live on the island, mostly all of whom live in Spanish Town. Although discovered in the 15th century by Columbus and home to pirates, the island is now an important tourist and economic center with a small airport.
Virgin Gorda is a wonderful place for relaxation with beautiful beaches, clear waters, and a quiet pace. The island offers active sports like snorkeling or diving. Tropical fruits grow in abundance on the island, the main traditional ingredients in every meal are seafood and fish, but there are also more exotic types of dishes, such as shark meat soup or mussel pie. The coast at Virgin Gorda is great for sunbathing or swimming, and the weather is always pleasantly warm and the water is clear. Not far from Copper Mine Bay is a national park where the ruins of ancient buildings are preserved, and on the mountain Gorda Peak, which offers a magnificent view of the island and its surroundings, there is also a park. One of the main features of the island is considered the coastal Bats with granite boulders and natural labyrinths, or the ruins of a copper mine. Virgin Gorda is great for sailing and surfing, a diving spot worthy of even the most sophisticated divers is neighboring Salt Island or Devil’s Bay with picturesque views of the underwater kingdom and its inhabitants.
Most private charter clients arrive either in nearby San Juan or in St. Thomas as The Virgin Gorda Airport is not designed for large planes.
